My favorite photos

When you do something you love, it's not really work. We all have heard that saying. And for me it is really true. For those of you who have meet me in person, you how much I love what I do and deep my passion for photography runs.

Most people when they get home from work, kick of their shoes, put their feet up and forget about the day they had at work for those few hours before they head back to the office. They turn on the T.V, read a book, spend some time with the family. Any thing to take their mind off work. NOT ME.

Photography started as a hobby and I transitioned it into a business years ago. So for me, during my down, one of my favorite things to do is take off with my camera and work on a personal photography project. I have done lots of these in the past and am always finding something neat to work on. I believe it keeps me on my toes and gives me new and fresh ideas to introduce into the studio for my clients,

One of my favorite projects was a few years back. I as at Rock Point Provincial Park in Dunnvile and spent hours photographing large pieces of drift wood that washed up on the beach. The waves where nice and steady, creating some neat action shots. During my post production editing, I turned the images black and white and amped up the contrast and grain, giving the images a nice, strong dramatic look. I have printed many of these and have them hanging in my home and  have created printed canvases as gifts for the holidays. I often find myself revisiting these images.

NOTE: it is best to shoot in colour and then convert the images to black and white. Colour images hold more information. You able to adjust the level of gray for each colour. It is always a great idea so you can have your choice of both options down the road.

Here are some of  my favorite images from that project

To this day, this image is my favorite image ever taken.

Choosing Your Location, Fall Addition

It's that time of year again where the weather changes and vibrant hues surround us. So looking for a place to take photos may be different than a place in the summer or winter that you enjoyed. Choosing a location that best suits you and your comfort level is important. It is good to pick somewhere that will make your session memorable and pleasing for you. Find a place that fits well with your personality and gets you to enjoy your experience. Some of my favorite places in the Fall time are Morningstar Mill, Malcolmson Eco Park both in St Catharines. As well as Firemans Park in Niagara Falls, McFarland House in Niagara on the Lake, and Balls Falls in Vineland.  Morningstar Mills is a heritage site located at Decew Falls. This site features a beautiful working mill rebuilt in 1872 and is surrounded with trees and water. It is a good naturalistic place to go, especially in the fall time when there are numerous colors all around you and a beautifully built mill overlooking some wate...

Frequently Asked Questions about Boudoir.

Boudoir.  It's exciting It's inciting And it's confusing and intimating all at the same time!  If you are thinking about a boudoir I'm sure you have some pretty big questions on the top of your head. That's fine. I mean it's not everyday you are standing half naked in front of a perfect stranger.  So you have questions... I've got answers. Q: Boudoir. Pornography. What’s the difference? A: Well for starters Boudoir is suggestive, while porn is... well you know. And you don’t have to be complete nude or revel anything at all when it comes to boudoir photographs. One of the most important things about being sexy is being confident. If you feel that way wearing jeans, by all means, wear jeans! Or a button down men’s dress shirt. Sure why not? Classy, suggestive, and flirty. Q: Can you Photoshop my images? A: If you would like to have say, stretch marks, a scar, that unwanted, embarrassing tattoo from when you were 16...

Is a boudoir session right for you?

Ladies, I'm about to let you in on something. Something you have probably told yourselves isn't true in the past. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL! We have those moments where we f stare at ourselves in the mirror, examining every single tiny detail about ourselves and we judge and criticize and  often tell ourselves some pretty harsh and ugly things. We may not do this every day, or FEEL this way every day, or every week for that matter. But at some point we have all been there. Felt so ugly it becomes the one thing we believe about ourselves for a while. There are some many amazing, beautiful, stunning women out there who don't feel beautiful. Too many woman have self image problem and lack confidence in the way they look. And I think that is a damn shame! The thing about women is we are all beautiful and should beautiful being who we are. That is one of the reasons I love boudoir so much! Boudoir and glamour sessions have the ability to make someone feel amazing about how ...
