Icing Sugar Photography

I love doing creative shoots and working with new people. (keeps me on my toes.) Last month I had the chance to work with the lovely model S. Nicole Ametrine. She came to me with a fun pin up style idea for a shoot and some great vintage inspired outfits. When she came to me with the idea, I knew where I wanted to shoot at. My lovely MUA and assistant. the talented Griffin Shields, has a beautiful apartment with large windows and cute little glitter covered vanity. Our shoot almost didn't happen as there was a massive freak snowstorm that day. But after braving the storm and getting a little mixed up in the snow, S.Nicole and I finally got to Griffin's she where she did her magic. She gave S.Nicole soft natural make up with extreme lashes and suicide rolls in her hair. The out come looked amazing! For those of you who know me personal, you know my love and adoration for boudoir photography. I think it is something incredibly empowering and a great confidence builder. Far too many women suffer from low self esteem and nit pick their bodies. Boudoir photography allows women the chance to let their inner sexy out and feel more comfortable with and accepting of their bodies. As someone who is very comfortable and confident with herself, I love being able to help other women see themselves in a more positive light and embrace their beauty. If you have never had a boudoir session yourself, I highly recommend it. There was only one problem I was encountering with the boudoir. As these images are very intimate, and most of my boudoir clients are everyday women and not models. After my first publication with Xpresions Magazine in January, I have spent a great deal of time researching other magazines that take submitted works for publication by photographers. The past few weeks especially have been brimming with such research. I have set a goal for myself surrounding publication of my work. I aim to have a minimum of 15 publications in a variety of magazine by the years end, even if it is one image per magazine. Finding suitable magazines has posed to be somewhat of a challenge. Many of them want high-end fashion images, which is not inertly what I am about. Others want images that have never been posted/published before, or don't take submissions at all. This hasn't detoured me though. I have found several likely candidates and have been in contact with some publishers eager to feature my work. Hello again! I wanted to share with you some fun and wild things that have been happening with Icing Sugar Photography! In combination with the creative Griffin Shields (MUA) we have been pushing our imaginations to the limits and have started with some awesome people. I'm sure you recall a blog from a the summer months of a group piece I did with Griffin where we turned to lovely girl, Jenn Sattin and Chelsea Ratilainen into a lioness and a peacock. Although we have been brimming with ideas since this shoot, we are even further inspired by a January magazine publication of Jenn's photos in Xpressions Magazine. We have since then done shoots.
