For those of you who know me personal, you know my love and adoration for boudoir photography. I think it is something incredibly empowering and a great confidence builder. Far too many women suffer from low self esteem and nit pick their bodies. Boudoir photography allows women the chance to let their inner sexy out and feel more comfortable with and accepting of their bodies. As someone who is very comfortable and confident with herself, I love being able to help other women see themselves in a more positive light and embrace their beauty. If you have never had a boudoir session yourself, I highly recommend it.
There was only one problem I was encountering with the boudoir. As these images are very intimate, and most of my boudoir clients are everyday women and not models. Therefore they are not use to having they bodies flaunted all over the place, most of them are not too keen on the idea of having their photos on my web or social media sites. Which is completely understandable. However it is harder to support the idea that I specialize in boudoir and glamour photography when my online boudoir portfolio is so small. So I reached out to a few of my friends and had them pose for me. I ended up with some very pleasing results to add to my portfolio. I got a lovely mix of tattoos, and softer images, to pin up. And that's the beautiful thing about boudoir. Its really for any women, boudoir is all about being and feeling beautiful. You don't need to be size 0 or have long flowing blonde hair. You can be 22 or you can be 42. Age, skin colour, body size, height... it doesn't matter. Beauty doesn't discriminate.
Now I often get told... "I don't have a significant other though." To that I say, that doesn't matter. Do it for yourself! Although commonly boudoir sessions are usually done as gifts for spouses or weddings but it doesn't need to stop. You can reward yourself for transforming your body after having a baby, or after athletic training. Or as I mentioned before boost self confidence. Besides that, you are only young once, so have some photos so when you are 80 years old you can look back and say "Damn! My ass was hot!" And of course Do something for yourself for a change! These sessions are fun and you will feel like a queen! There are lots of reasons to have a boudoir session.
I would also like to point out that boudoir is NOT pornography! For starters boudoir is suggestive, while porn is... well you know. You don’t have to be complete nude or revel anything at all when it comes to boudoir photographs. One of the most important things about being sexy is being confident. If you feel that way wearing jeans, by all means, wear jeans! Or a button down men’s dress shirt. Sure why not? Classy, suggestive, and flirty.
I have so much more to say about boudoir photography. So much that I don't think I could fit it all into one blog. ( I should probably write a book on it one day lol). So in the up coming few blogs I will be writing about some tips and pros and cons. Boudoir 101! In the mean time, here are a few of the shots from some of the boudoir sessions I mentioned earlier in this post.
Models in order of appearance are Andrea, Dana, Jessica and Jill
