Emily (Miss T-rex) and I have been meaning to work together for a while. We were finally able to set something and did a style of fashion that neither of us had done before. We went full out grunge! Mind you we didn't have the flannel lumberjack shirt but did go all out with the boots, stockings, torn tee and blew out her hair for add effect. The out come was pretty.... well badass!
Now the problem with shooting early spring (if you can even call it early this year) is the weather. We spent a good night racking our brains trying to find a spot that suited our theme and wasn't too cold, wet and muddy. Although the mud and wet probably would have gone with the look we were attempting to create, the wind and cold wasn't working in our favor.
My first idea was to shoot at a favorite spot of mine, one locals know as screaming tunnels. I have used this location several times because of how seclude it is as well as the shelter it provides. It also has a great vibe for several different genres of shoots. My concern with this location was the amount of water. Unfortunately this area is normally flooded to point of being impassable during the spring season. Although I'm all for getting a little wet and dirty, when it's still cold out, it makes for very difficult working conditions.
Finally I found a shelter location, one there prying eyes couldn't watch us and one that provided some shelter from the wind. This place I will keep top secret, I'm sure some of the locals will be able to figure it out however ;) Slick with oil stains, exposed pipes, low ceilings and uncovered lights. It was pretty much perfect.
Being that the location was pretty vast and open, Emily created some bold and extreme poses to make up for the lack for environment. It was wonderful to see a model pull out something other then standard glamour poses. All in all the images turned out fantastic. One of which will be soon published in an issue of Surreal Beauty Magazine!
Here are some of the shots we go that day!
